Exhaust in the Air! Perhaps the old car, hot rod, roadster, classic cars enthusiasts have an even more romantic way to say it. Fall is car season here at the beach so we have stocked up the car designs in our tin signs.
Hi Nick! (That's my brother, he keeps bugging me to post a new blog. I invited him to do it, but I guess he's busy :))
So, nothing exciting like a baby bird rescue so far this year. We've had a lot of high school seniors recently. Good news, kids read. These kids are not particularly nerdy either. Cool kids read. Unless that is what is cool now...Judging by my nerd glasses and the fact that someone said I look FIFTEEN the other day, cool kids might be looking nerdy and regular nerdy kids might be looking, well, regular. Enough of that!
Another author is coming to visit us!!!!
Last year we had soooo much fun when Rhonda Dolen visited with her poetry book that we are welcoming other Authors to come and do signings and talk with customers about their books. If you are here Monday June 25, 2013, mark your calendar for author Chad Rick who will be here with his sci-fi fantasy books for kids. He will be here from 3pm-5pm and will sign your book and tell you all about his book Dimensions. It sounds good to me!
That's all the news for now. Hope to see you in the store soon!
Exciting times around this place.
Get out your calendar!
In a couple weeks we'll get in this season's shipment of faeries, including another faeries end table in a new design, and some gothic dragon wall hangings as well as our classic pretty collection of mermaids, nymphs and other fae.
Monday, July 2nd, Rhonda J. Dolen, visiting author will be AT OUR STORE! She has a book called Hopelessly Romantic Poems Collection. It is Modern poetry with an Elizabethan twist. She will have copies available for sale, which she will of course be happy to sign for you - but wait! There's more! In the spirit of romantic poetry, she will also KISS your BOOK.
Maybe someone will make cupcakes too, we'll see :)
What other kinds of events would you like to see at your downtown Ocean City bookstore?
We had some beautiful sunshine this week in Ocean City! Sure, it was a little breezy on Tuesday, and it rained on Wednesday, but those were the perfect days for our visitors to stock up on books to read on the beach Thursday and Friday.
A couple weeks ago we had some excitement around the store. A little bird flew in and sat right in the middle of the aisle, nearly being stepped on. Before I could gather some bird swooping apparatus, he disappeared! All afternoon I could hear him chirping, so I knew he was still inside.
After several hours, with the resolve that he should not stay inside overnight, for the benefit of the bird and of the books, I sought him out. He was perched on a low shelf, every so often chirping out what I would interpret as a cry for assistance. From his fellow birds? I could only observe the paralysis and hope a pack of his fellow LLBs would swoop in and pull him out by his wing tips.
With little more ado (to include unsuccessful enticement with fresh sugar snap peas (on the advice of my brother via text) and general words of encouragement) I retrieved a clear plastic box and a piece of cardstock (on the advice of my mother) and swooped the LLB up and released him in the side yard. There he clung to the neighbors' garden wall and when I checked a few moments later, he was gone.
I hope you are enjoying the end of Spring where-ever you are, and that we will see you in the store soon!
